Home Loans During a Deployment
Power of Attorney and VA Loans
Active duty military members do not have to miss out on a VA home loan just because they are deployed. A Power of Attorney allows them to purchase a home or refinance their existing home if they are not present during the process
Using a Power of Attorney
Power of Attorney means that you’ve given legal authority to a trusted individual who can sign legally binding documents on your behalf.
For a VA loan, the lender is required to verify the veteran or service person is still living and not missing in action.
If Power of Attorney is necessary for your VA loan, please talk to your loan specialist about it. They will be happy to help guide you through this process.
Obtaining your Certificate of Eligibility (COE)
The Certificate of Eligibility (COE) is an official document that proves you are eligible to participate in the VA Loan Guarantee program. There are several ways to obtain the certificate of eligibility, all of which are fine to use, but some are less time consuming than others.
A Military Direct Mortgage VA Loan Specialist can assist in obtaining your VA Certificate of Eligibility (COE) from the VA.
While you don’t need your COE in hand to start the loan process with Military Direct Mortgage, this certificate is a very important part of your loan application. Your COE verifies your eligibility for the VA home loan benefit.
Prospective VA borrowers can obtain their Certificate of Eligibility directly from the VA, either by using its online eBenefits portal; by visiting a nearby Regional Loan Center; or by mailing or faxing in the necessary documents.
You can obtain your Certificate of Eligibility on the eBenefits website by clicking HERE
You can also follow our step-by-step instructions by clicking on the button below
